A TEENAGE GIRL

A girl her age she finds it difficult coping with mood swings, hormones kicking in, seeing herself growing into a woman.  She starts to develop as she comes to the early ages of been a woman, puberty has already struck her meaning she has to take more care about myself, she has to learn to deal with emotions and be able to understand them, listen to her body needs, be more careful and aware of the dangerous world out there. The media has always helped to create an “unachievable” image of what girls should look like: pretty, plastic, skinny. If you look at department stores like Primark, Topshop, H&M, they are full of clothes for girls as young as 9 with short skirts sexy dress making the young girl feel they know what is means to be sexually aware. The world is fast forward and girls feel like they have to accelerate the onset of puberty, they are losing part of their childhood worrying about how hot and fit they look, when it is still time to play adventures and develop a sense of who they are.

Shannon feels this is all happening too fast, the feeling of not been understood by the adult world which is so far from her.

ANGELIC WINGS exhibition

Dramatic scenery with an extra twist  inspired by Hitchcock 'The Birds' yet also connected to angelic themes of the Renaissance and the dramatic landscapes of English painter William Turner.

I fell in love with the birds and the way they flew over the Thames.
